Youth Performing Arts School’s Dance Concert

The 2014 Youth Performing Arts School’s Dance Concert is being held February 21, 22, and 23 at the YPAS Main Stage Theatre. The performances will feature distinct dance performances, including classical ballet, jazz, and modern dance forms.

The show is choreographed by YPAS faculty and performed by YPAS students. The performance is appropriate for children in grade four and up.

The show will feature a number of pieces, including excerpts from The Sleeping Beauty, which was choreographed in 1890 by Marius Petipa. There’s also the unique Walkin’ the Dog which is sure to be a hit with the kids, as it features tap dancing and live dogs. Air is a contemporary ballet piece set to Bach’s Air on a G String guitar, and At This Table is another contemporary dance that examines the various life events that take place around a table.

Tickets for the show are $8 and are available by calling YPAS or at the door.

The February 21 and 22 shows starts at 7 p.m., and the February 23 performance starts at 2 p.m. The Youth Performing Arts School is located at 1517 S. 2nd St. in Louisville.
